Oasis Day Camp - Why Oasis Dobbs Ferry Summer Day Camp is a Good Fit for Preschoolers

< back to blog home

Finding a summer day camp that’s a good fit for your preschooler is key to having an amazing, often first-time, camp experience. The staff at Oasis Dobbs Ferry is dedicated to making our youngest campers feel safe and happy, and ensures that the transition to camp life is smooth and nurturing.

Located on the beautiful campus of The Masters School (a private boarding school in Dobbs Ferry), this idyllic setting is perfect for preschoolers to get the full summer day camp experience. This location is solely dedicated to Early Start Imagination Camp attendees and Mercy College (across the street) remains home to our older campers.

Early Start Imagination Camp at Oasis Dobbs Ferry is designed by early childhood educators specifically to meet the emotional, social and physical needs of pre-K and kindergarten children ages 3-5. Our camp director, Deb Tashoff, is a 25-year veteran of early childhood education, and makes sure that all activities and programs are developmentally appropriate for our campers.

The intimate campus at Oasis Dobbs Ferry has amazing new indoor and outdoor facilities, and campers are never far from an air-conditioned space. Kids can let their creativity shine during arts and crafts, music, dance, and theater programs lead by our experienced instructors. Our counselor to camper ratio of 1:3 allows for extra support, and we build in nap, lunch and snack time throughout the day.

Oasis Dobbs Ferry provides just the right mix of learning and recreation.

Campers in the Early Start Imagination Camp program are experiencing many firsts, and swimming might be one of them. Our American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim program is an opportunity for your child to learn how to swim or hone their skills under the supervision of our aquatics director, instructors and lifeguards.

Athletics is also part of the fun at our summer day camp and if your child has never played a sport – no problem. Our coaches teach kids to play soccer and baseball, take campers on scavenger hunts, and organize kickball games and relay races.

Preschoolers also participate in our “Ready for September” school-year readiness program. This includes low stress, academically oriented activities that prepare campers for the social elements and routines associated with being in a structured group setting. And for those campers moving into our Lower Camp Program the following year, we introduce them to the Mercy College campus so they’ll have a smooth transition next season.

Oasis Dobbs Ferry is the perfect summer camp for preschoolers to have an active and safe summer, while making friendships that last a lifetime! Read this post fo more information on choosing a summer camp.
