With only 5 days left until Halloween, it’s likely the buzz of the Teal Pumpkin Project has reached you through your local news station or child’s school.
In short, this is an effort to get families to give out non-food products for Halloween in place of the traditional handfuls of candy. When parents take their children trick or treating this weekend, any house with a pumpkin painted teal on their doorstep will be handing out allergy-safe, non-food products in place of candy. According to the FARE website, this campaign was launched last year and households all over the country participated. The FARE website allows users to make a pledge to hand out non-food items and even download a printable sign to hang up for Halloween!
Non-food products can include fun Halloween themed pencils, erasers, bracellets, glowsticks, stickers and so much more.
If you don’t know about the Teal Pumpkin Project check out all the information HERE at the Food Allergy Research and Education (FARE) website, including FAQ's and a list of more items that you can substitute for candy.
What will you be handing out this weekend?
