Why did the On the Sound and Tully Park camps close?

The Town of North Hempstead is no longer accepting proposals from private organizations to run camps, so Michael J. Tully Park and Manorhaven Beach Park are no longer available to us. Can I visit my child at camp?

YES! Starting your camper’s second week, we highly encourage you to make a visit.  We do not allow parent visits during the first week of camp in order to allow campers time to acclimate to their new surroundings.

Please give us at least at least 24-hour’s notice and call the office at 646-519-5066 to schedule your visit. Please come to the main office when you arrive and we’ll give you an Oasis t-shirt. Make sure you’re dressed to fully participate in all aspects of the program, and bring a bathing suit if you’re visiting during your camper’s swim period.

What do campers wear at camp?

All campers must wear their Oasis t-shirt, shorts, socks, and sneakers.

For the pool, please send your camper with a bathing suit (either on them or in a plastic bag), a towel, and flip flops/Crocs. You may also want to send goggles and a swim cap (optional).

We highly encourage sending your camper with a hat and sunglasses to protect their scalp and eyes.

For our younger campers, parents may want to send an extra change of clothes in their backpack.

What should my child bring to camp?

LABEL EVERYTHING!

Campers should bring the following each day in their Oasis backpacks:

What medical staff is on site?

Oasis at LIU Post has a full-time RN or EMT on site at all times. In addition, all leadership staff and several group leaders are Red Cross CPR, First Aid and Epi-Pen Administration certified. Please know that our staff IS NOT allowed to administer medicine to your child. The only exception to this Department of Health guideline is Epi-pens. A member of our medical staff or your division leader will call you if your child receives medical attention of any kind.

If your child should require an Epi-pen or an asthma pump, please send the asthma pump and/or two (2) Epi-pens to the camp office – all with a copy of the original prescription taped to it and clearly labeled with your camper’s name. Staff will have the medication ready in case of an emergency.

My child has severe allergies and needs to bring an Epi-pen – what should I do?

Please indicate all of the important medical information we need to know about your camper on his/her medical form. Alert your division leader that your child will be bringing Epi-pens to camp and bring two (2) Epi-pens to camp – both with a copy of the original prescription taped to it and clearly labeled with your camper’s name. One Epi-pen will be kept locked in the medical office safe and the other will go out into camp with your camper’s division leader every day.

You can use our online registration system to enroll your camper, or you can download the forms from there and email them to us at liupost@oasischildren.com. Before your child begins their stay at camp, you’ll also need to provide us with a completed health form that’s included in our online registration system.
