Oasis is proud of our success in operating academic and enrichment-based child care programs which have been acknowledged through third party evaluations and studies. In 2010, the Oasis summer enrichment program model was recognized by the NYS Sharing Success Technical Assistance Center among a select group of organizations for implementing promising practices. A 2003-2008 longitudinal study conducted by the Institute for Research and Development indicated that elementary students participating in Oasis school-based programs increased their academic proficiency levels. Evaluators from 21st Century Community Learning Center grants also conclude that Oasis programs reduce learning loss, develop critical cognitive, social and emotional skills, and provide a safe haven for children.
Oasis Early Start Imagination Center will meet the social-emotional learning needs of all of our UPK scholars in an academic environment that is differentiated, rigorous, and nurturing. We will partner with the families of our scholars to ensure that every child’s journey throughout the school year is meaningful and serves as a formative experience in creating a life-long learner.
The ESIC program will feature whole group, small group, and activity centers such as: Writing/Reading, Music, Science, Math, Art, Discovery, and Play. During Center Time, students will engage in organized guided activities that support learning across the CCLS and the interrelated domains. Scholars will be encouraged to embrace new concepts as well as practice recently acquired skills. All activities will be experiential and support both general cognitive and kinesthetic development in a cooperative learning milieu.
