Introduction to the Oasis in Union Counselors

Camp is only a few days away so we would like to take a minute to introduce ourselves! Here are your Summer 2015 Oasis in Union camp counselors!

Division Leader

Danielle Kingsbury

25, SUNY New Paltz ‘12, English Teacher

I am a teacher at the school for expelled students in Yonkers. In addition to being a teacher, I have 5 years of experience at summer camps including two years as a camp director in Newburgh, NY. In the winter, I spend my weekends as a ski instructor to people with developmental and/or physical disabilities. Although I work a lot, I can always find time to read, play nerdy board games, go hiking, or cuddle with my pet hamster, Lucy. I chose a career working with kids because I am continually fascinated with the insights they can bring us. I enjoy learning from my students as much as I enjoy teaching them! If you have any camper or counselor concerns throughout the summer, please call me at (917) 922-6761

Cynthia Abinader

21, Fordham University, ‘16, Psychology

Hi I’m Cynthia. I’m the oldest of three and am part of a family of over 100 1st and 2nd cousins! I love playing sports and I’ve played almost all of them, especially softball. When I used to be a camper I remember being a part of the talent show and I played Toto the dog from The Wizard of Oz, I had one line to say on stage and when I got up there I completely forgot it and started howling like a coyote instead of a dog. It was so embarrassing but still one of my favorite memories from camp!

Lori (Shalorah) Trenchfield

My hobbies are running, taking long walks with my mom and reading lots of books. My dream is to become the best Global fitness and Wellness Physical Education teacher/instructor. I chose that because in today's society a lot of kids are lacking information on being Physically fit & well. I like working with kids because I LOVE their energy and their enthusiasm.
