Oasis in Tully Park

Division 1 Leads Us Through Day 1

Hi Dee Hi Folks!

To all of our first-time campers, welcome.

To all of our return campers, welcome back.

Our first day got started as always, with an all-hands-on-deck approach to making sure everyone got to meet their new counselors, division leaders, and even a few new campers who registered on the spot. We thank each and every one of you for your patience on what is always a scene that resembles opening night for the summer blockbuster movie. Speaking of movies, this week we will be dressing like the kids from School of Rock, making our banners, creating our own alma mater theme song, while bringing back our activities from basketball and tennis baseball to dance and arts & crafts, and introducing our new activity, carnevale, in which the campers will play carnival games and tricks.

We also will be introducing a leader, counselor, and/or instructor every week, and we have to kick off with our Camp Director, Jason Miradoli. Jason grew up in Manhasset, attended and played soccer at Chaminade High School and Fordham University, and managed a trading desk during a decade on Wall Street, before leaving the industry to work with children, and have more time to be with his own three, two sons and a daughter. He coaches at Stony Brook University and Saint Mary's High School, and runs soccer programs throughout Long Island. In the summer, he looks forward to working with his Oasis campers for the third year, and he is confident that this will be his best year.

If you have any questions, comments, complaints, compliments, or just wish to say hi, please do not hesitate to reach him at jason@oasischildren.com, or at 516-272-3149. Tomorrow there is the chance of rain. We are prepared for this, but want to remind you to check your email should there be rain at arrival or dismissal, in which case we will move those locations to the town's office building as soon as you enter the park.

But for today, the spirit was in the air, and it was led by our youngest campers, who won the spirit stick at rally in the morning, and may just be the division to beat this summer.
