Oasis in Brooklyn Bridge Park

Rainy Day Fun and A Musical IQ!

Hi Dee Hi Oasis Families,

Wednesday July 15th brought down the rain in the morning so we had to cancel our outdoor activities such as swimming at the Red Hook Pool and rollerskating at Pier 2.  Our campers still had a great time as we danced, created art, sang songs, and played games at St. Francis College.  The Pumas had an awesome time playing "Guess the Counselor" in which they had to figure out which one of thier counselors picked an answer as a response to a topic.  All day, our campers "worked like busy bees" as they got ready for the Oasis Flea Market on Friday.  Campers made paper airplanes, bookmarks, necklaces, lanyard charms, pictures, boats, and many other items.  These items will be sold and bought by our campers with Oasis bucks on Friday.  It'll be a lot of fun!

In the afternoon, Lower Camp had an amazing time with an organization called Musical IQ. These 2 musicians came and our campers learned how create rhymths and beats using the jembe, which is an African drum.  Our campers loved these special on-site trip and it really sounded like they were taking us to the plains of Africa with their music.  Great job to all the campers from Lower Camp for participating and having fun,

Additionally, our campers had a terrific time in the pool.  They are all swimming with so much confidence and learning new things each day.  Swim instructors Checo, Paloma, Winston, and Bien are doing a terrific job with our campers.  Stop by and say hi to them when you can!

Thursday is Choice Academy and Dress Up Day.  Since it is Survivor China Week, we are asking campers to WEAR SOMETHING RED FOR GOOD LUCK. Dress up days are always a lot of fun.
