The Program
Oasis Downtown Summer Day Camp in Lower Manhattan, with cooperation from the Parks Department, much of the camp day is spent in nearby East River Park. Fully renovated, the park has extensive recreational facilities including ball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts and a variety of outdoor resources. The Hamilton Fish Recreation Center, meanwhile, is directly across the street and has a wonderful "shallow" pool that is ideally suited for both instructional and recreational swim.
Oasis Downtown also features a full arts program, sports instruction and a travel component that is designed to take full advantage of the enriching activities in the New York area.
No other program in New York City is as dynamic or as safe specifically geared for younger children.

Ages
Oasis Downtown is designed for boys and girls ages 4 through 11. Children are grouped by age.
Flexible Enrollment
At Oasis, families have the advantage to enroll their children around their summer plans. Children enroll for a minimum of two consecutive weeks, a maximum of eight weeks or any combination you choose. Oasis Downtown offers a special Short Day option or, for an additional fee, Oasis offers bus service (AM only) or an early-drop off, late stay option.
Program Dates
Oasis Downtown will operate on weekdays, from June 30th - August 22nd
Children must enroll for a minimum of two weeks. Start dates are as follows:
June 30th Two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight-week enrollment
July 14th Two, three, four, five, six-week enrollment
July 28th Two, three, or four-week enrollment
August 11th Two-week enrollment only
*there will be no camp on Friday July 4th
Program Times
Tall Day: 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
Short Day: 9:00 am to 3:00 pm **
Camper drop off is from 8:30-9am and Pick up is from 5-5:30pm. An Early Drop Off, Late Stay option is available for an additional $60 per week ($30/week for AM/PM only).
** On field trip days we ask that you allow your child to stay for the entire day.
Cost
A $250 deposit is due at the time of enrollment. The remaining balance is due by May 30th, 2008. If you are enrolling after May 30th, your balance is due in FULL at the time of enrollment.

Trips
At Oasis, children also have the opportunity to go on field trips. Children travel on yellow Oasis school buses to attractions of interest and educational value. Past trips have included the Intrepid, the Queens Hall of Science and the Bronx Zoo. On days which there are field trips, we ask that your child stay for the entire day.

Transportation
Families can drop their children off at the school on the corner of Stanton and Pitt streets. Our bus service stops at pick-up and drop-off locations and costs $60 per week. Families who enroll children for the "short day" must make their own transportation arrangements in the afternoons. Bus fees could increase if you do not live within the catchment area. Additionally, bus fees could increase based on changing gas prices. Bus routes are determined before the start of camp.
Rainy Days
When the weather is bad, children enjoy a number of indoor activities. Some may travel with our staff to local attractions while others spend the day at the school doing arts and crafts and utilizing our numerous indoor spaces.
Meals
Children bring lunch from home and we have a picnic in the park or school cafeteria every day. Oasis refrigerates the lunches, provides plenty of water, and serves a morning and afternoon snack.
Staff
The Oasis staff are a big part of our outstanding spirit. We are a mixture of teachers, coaches, college students, and program specialists. Our adult to child ratio is 1 to 4. Each group of 15 children has 3 group leaders. An additional staff person, a specialist, runs each specific activity in which the children participate. A team of Division Leaders act as supervisors and every site has a nurse or EMT as well as a team of certified lifeguards. Oasis senior staff members participate in trainings throughout the year and college undergraduates have the opportunity to take an in-service training course during the summer for which they can receive up to four college credits.
Camp Extension Program
From August 25th through August 29st, Oasis will run a week-long, full-day, camp extension program. The extension program will include daily excursions to activities like bowling, roller skating and more. For more information on the camp extension program, please call the Oasis main office.
