I registered my child and want to know the status of my application?
If you registered online, a confirmation e-mail will be sent to you immediately to let you know the application went through. Normally, within a few days we will notify you of the status, Accepted, Waitlisted or Not Eligible.
If you registered with a paper application, the process takes a little longer. If you mail the application to our main headquarters they need to be reviewed and entered into the system. Once your application is entered, we will mail you a letter to notify you of the status of the application: Accepted, Waitlisted or Not Eligible. If you turn your application into the Parent Coordinator at your child's school, it may take extra time as applications get picked up from schools on a weekly basis.
I work closer to another site, can my child attend that one?
Your child's eligibility is dependant on the school your child attends. Where a parent works is not a factor in our process of determining eligibility.
What happened to the Bed-Stuy Program at P.S. 25?
Most of the grants we receive to fund our programs last 5 years. When the grant for P.S. 25 ran out we re-applied, but have not received funding. We will continue to do what we can to provide programs within the Bed Stuy community in the future.
I've been waitlisted. When will I hear if my child is accepted?
If your child has been waitlisted, they will be accepted in the order which they applied. Applying earlier places you higher on the waitlist. On June 1st, we open up any available spots to people who live in the immediate community of the program. Not all sites will have available spots as of June 1st. Being Waitlisted does not guarantee a spot in one of our Oasis Programs.
Can I apply for more than one program?
Applying for more than one program will only hold your application up. You will only be eligible for one program. If you are not sure whether you meet any eligibility requirements, please call our office at 718-596-4900 before applying.
What is an OSIS# and where can I get it?
OASIS stands for Online Student Identification System. All NYC students have one regardless of whether they attend a public, charter, parochial or private school. In order to get your child's number you can ask the attendance secretary, parent coordinator, or school secretary.
Why do you need my e-mail address?
Throughout the summer we send out notifications to parents about important information regarding summer camp. Sites use e-mail addresses to send out parent newsletters throughout camp. After camp is over we would love feedback on our programs and use an online survey to gage the thoughts of parents. In order for you to be included in these important times of communication we would love to have your e-mail address. At no time will Oasis give your e-mail address to third parties.
